- Postcodes: four digits, such as
4001for Basel. One postcode can span several municipalities.
Finding an address
- A postcode and house number don't identify a Swiss address. Autocomplete needs the postcode, settlement and street, or an
addressId. - One house number can have several entrances, each its own address. The API then returns a 400 that lists their
addressIdvalues; pick one by its location orbuildingNameand repeat the request with thataddressId. Rue Saint-Laurent 35 in Lausanne has two entrances, 19 metres apart. - Some addresses have no house number at all, such as the Hirslanden Klinik on Schänisweg in Aarau. Only their
addressIdselects them.
House numbers
streetNumberis text, returned as the source writes it:30,4.1(entrance 1 of number 4) or2bis.1.- A letter or word directly after a number is the
premise:ain30a,bisin2bis. Chemin de Mornex 5 in Lausanne exists only as5aand5b, so a request without a premise returns a 400 that lists them. - Every address from the source carries its
addressIdand, where the source names the building, abuildingName. An address you added yourself through feedback has neither.
